ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability is further growing its Sustainable Economy and Procurement team. It is currently seeking to hire a senior officer in Sustainable and Innovation Procurement and a City to Business Collaboration officer.
The City to Business Collaboration Officer will help scale up sustainable urban transformation across Europe by implementing projects and services that aim to create a space for cities (buyers) and business (suppliers) to build a shared understanding of how to address innovation and sustainability, accelerate and scale-up sustainable transformation by stimulating and delivering initiatives, products and services which implement cities’ climate and sustainability action plans, and accelerate the market introduction of innovative, circular and sustainable technologies.
ICLEI sees local governments as critical actors in facilitating the transition to a sustainable economy. Public procurement is one of the levers they have at their disposal to do this, with public buyers being responsible for 14% of the EU’s GDP. ICLEI has been supporting public authorities to use their public spending to achieve social and environmental objectives since 1996.
Through projects and flagship networks, such as the Procura+ European Sustainable Procurement Network and the Global Lead City Network on Sustainable Procurement, ICLEI provides professional information, advice, networking opportunities, training and tools to public authorities wanting to implement better, more cost effective sustainable and innovation procurement practices. As senior officer working on innovation and sustainable procurement you will be contributing to this work.
