2 new vacancies at ICLEI in circular economy and sustainable procurement

ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability is growing its Sustainable Economy and Procurement team. It is now seeking to hire a circular economy officer and a sustainable procurement officer to help advance its work in these two increasingly intertwined fields.

ICLEI sees the transition from a linear to a circular economy as fundamental for achieving climate neutrality, fostering a thriving society, and keeping resource consumption within planetary boundaries. The circular economy officer will contribute to this by working on a number of ongoing and new European projects in the fields of waste management and urban symbiosis, with a main focus on construction and demolition waste.

Local governments are critical actors in facilitating the transition to a sustainable economy. Public procurement is one of the levers they have at their disposal to do this, with public buyers being responsible for 14% of the EU’s GDP. ICLEI has been supporting public authorities to use their public spending to achieve social and environmental objectives since 1996.

Through projects and flagship networks, such as the Procura+ European Sustainable Procurement Network and the Global Lead City Network on Sustainable Procurement, ICLEI provides professional information, advice, networking opportunities, training and tools to public authorities wanting to implement better, more cost effective sustainable and innovation procurement practices. As sustainable procurement officer you will be contributing to this work.
