2nd European Conference on e-Public Procurement

The University of Lisbon (Portugal) is hosting the 2nd European Conference on e-Public Procurement on 27 May 2014. Given that public procurement constitutes 17 percent of European GDP, the conference aims to explore the manner in which e-public procurement can contribute to financial stability and sustainable growth in the European Union. The conference will build on the success of the 1st European Conference on e-Public Procurement, which took place in Barcelona in March 2013.

As a strategy, e-public procurement has a number of attractive features. It can save money through improved sourcing and more effective competition between suppliers, stimulates innovation and the development of e-marketplaces, and promotes a low-carbon society and more sustainable growth. The conference aims to discuss the implications and role of e-public procurement, and alternative strategies and technological solutions to cope with its challenges.
