Fifth annual conference on innovative public procurement

The Conference on innovative public procurement will be held in Berlin the 26th of October 2016. The Conference aims to aware and spread the fact that if the EU is to meet its targets for competitiveness and growth, innovation is needed. Public procurement of innovation offers untapped potential and it is important to reform public procurement processes and make them leaner, simpler and more user-friendly.

Under the new legislative framework, more flexible ways of using public demand to bring products to the market are offered, and the possibility to use public procurement strategically to pursue other important policy objectives, whether environmental, social, or those related to promoting innovation in the European economy.

The free event is scheduled in four sessions organized by the European Commission and it will run from 9.00 to 17.00. During the sessions, different approaches to innovative ways of procurement and the implementation of the new public procurement directives will be discussed. It will also bring the opportunity to rethink the way public procurement is organised in EU countries to make it more efficient and effective, and provide better value for money.
